Fear Incarnate

I've had a rare opportunity, a chance singular. Some would call it a horrific honor or perilous privilege, and others would call it a curse and bane. Call it what you will, I know what I have seen, what I have experienced, though whether for my salvation or damnation I am yet unsure. Certainly, there is a rather haunting cloud of a predatory, lurking nature that hangs about the whole scene. And what a scene it was; a dark scene, a constricting, breath-taking scene. For, you see, I saw Fear.
I saw Fear, his silent, sly face. He is smaller than most might believe, in terms of stature, that is to say, and he certainly isn't humanoid in form. He is slender and long, sleek and lissome. Fear is a very vile fellow, stalking around everyone,  slinking in the shadows in his predacious way. He seems to be in every place, simultaneously sliding past souls on all sides of the world.
I saw Fear, his sinister, serpentine visage. He was everywhere, accosting countless souls in his infinite coils of choking destruction. He enwrapped and squeezed, crushing, holding victims gasping, scrabbling for air and life. His strength controlled by the phobias of every one, his scaly length rippling with incapacitating power.
I saw Fear, his snake-eyed, smiling muzzle. He gripped his inviting victims in enveloping lengths. He throttled, debilitating and destroying, crushing. He consumed, his coils twisting and surrounding.
Fear saw me. His menacing eyes met my stare, penetrating to my spirit. Disturbing lights of darkness danced within his dismal abysses.
I saw Fear. And I was afraid. Ω
